abstract = {Views vary concerning which group was responsible for the Zanj Revolt. Some . including , the orientalist Noldeke holds that the rebels were slaves rising against the wretched of life in a marshes Basra. In his book Islamic History , Muhammad Abd al-Hay Shaban wrote that this movement was not a slave revoit . It was a Zanj, i.e, a Negro , revolt, the vast majority of the rebels were Arabs of the Persian Gulf supported by free east Africans who had made their homes in the region. Along with such Negroes there were Arabs from various clans. Furthermore , this Arab - Negro alliance was well represented in the leadership of the revolt. The revolt had a highly organized army and navy which resisted the whole weight of the central government. The revolt had the backing of a certain group of merchants who persevered with their support.},

abstract_fa ={در مورد این موضوع که قیام صاحب الزنج ابتدا از سوى چه گروهى ترتیب داده شد، اختلاف نظر وجود دارد. برخى همچون نلدکه معتقدند این جنبش از سوى بردگانى صورت گرفت که زندگى سخت و طاقت فرسایى را در مرداب هاى شور بصره پشت سر مى گذاشتند، اما محمد شعبان این جنبش را از سوى سیاه پوستانى مى داند که با حمایت بازرگانان بزرگ، جمعیت بومى شمال، شمال غربى و به خصوص شمال شرقى آفریقا و عرب خلیج فارس روبه رو شد و در حقیقت منافع مشترک گروه هاى فوق آنان را به هم پیوند داد. از این رو مقاله حاضر ضمن اشاره مختصر به اوضاع سیاسى مقارن با قیام، به تحلیل آن پرداخته و ضمن شمردن امکانات و تشکیلات قوى شورشیان و حضور گسترده عرب و سیاه پوستان در متن شورش و حتى رهبرى آن، در صدد اثبات این موضوع است که قیام صاحب الزنج شورشى سیاه پوستى محسوب3 مى شود.4},
