abstract = {"Marriage", or What it is called the bound between a husband and a wife, gives existence to a "family" and a "society" forms up from the systematic confluence of families. Therefore, in order to be more acquinted with the efficiencies and deficiencies of every society it seems necessary to investigate the particulars of marriage in that society.
In this paper an inportant aspect of the conditions of women, families and society in the Age of ignorance (Jahiliyyah) will be dealt with by specifying and analysing the various types of marriages at the Age of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah). it is worth mentioning that the historical juncture in focus is considered as a context and background for the Islamic history and dealing with its multiple aspects would result in a confound understanding of Islam and its achievements. In addition to that, we will introduce the kinds of convenfional marriages at the Pre-Islamic Period approved by the Islamic Law.

abstract_fa ={«ازدواج» یا به عبارتى پیوند میان زن و شوى، «خانواده» را مى آفریند و سپس از تجمع سازمان یافته خانواده هاست که یک «جامعه» شکل مى یابد. از این رو، براى آشنایى با کفایت ها و کاستى هاى هر جامعه، در کنار همه پژوهش هاى لازم، ضرورت دارد که چند و چون ازدواج در آن جامعه نیز بررسى شود.

در این نوشتار با توصیف و تحلیلِ گونه هاى ازدواج در عصر جاهلى، جنبه اى مهم از اوضاع زن، خانواده و جامعه عصر جاهلى تبیین مى شود. گفتنى است که مقطع تاریخى یاد شده، مدخل و زمینه اى براى تاریخ اسلام به شمار مى آید که مطالعه ابعاد مختلف آن، موجب شناخت عمیق آیین اسلام و دستاوردهاى آن مى شود. هم چنین در این نوشتار، گونه هایى از ازدواج هاى رایج در عصر جاهلى که به تأیید و امضاى شریعت اسلام رسیده نیز معرفى شده است.
