Multiple factors during this era could either hinder or facilitate this expansion. One under-examined aspect is the role of religious scholars (ʿulamāʾ). This article investigates this subject, addressing the question of how religious scholars encountered modern medicine and what the consequences of this encounter were. The investigation reveals that religious scholars voiced certain objections to modern medicine, yet there were also contextual grounds for these objections. The results of this study, based on an examination of contemporary documents and reports, demonstrate that the scholars' opposition was not directed at the medical achievements of modern medicine in their entirety, but rather manifested primarily in aspects that conflicted with Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and Sharia. These objections, predominantly observed during the early spread of modern medicine in the Qajar period, had a significant impact on the perspective of the religiously devout and adherents of Sharia towards modern medicine and its accomplishments. گسترش پزشکی نوین در دورة قاجار با چالش‌های فراوانی همراه بود. عوامل متعددی در این دوران نقش داشتند که می‌توانستند مانع یا تسهیل‌کنندة این گسترش باشند. یکی از جنبه‌هایی که کمتر بدان توجه شده، نقش عالمان دین است. مقالة حاضر این موضوع را بررسی کرده و به این پرسش پاسخ داده است که عالمان دین چگونه با پزشکی نوین مواجه شدند و این مواجهه چه پیامدهایی داشت؟ بررسی‌ها نشان می‌دهد که عالمان دین با پزشکی نوین مخالفت‌هایی داشتند، اما زمینه‌هایی برای تبیین این مخالفت‌ها نیز وجود داشت. نتایج این مقاله بر اساس بررسی اسناد و گزارش‌های آن زمان نشان می‌دهد مخالفت علما با دستاوردهای پزشکی نوین به‌طورکلی نبوده و بیشتر در جنبه‌هایی از پزشکی نوین بروز یافته که با فقه و شریعت اسلامی تضاد داشته است. این مخالفت‌ها که عمدتاً در اوایل گسترش پزشکی نوین در دورة قاجار مشاهده می‌شود، تأثیر قابل‌توجهی در نگرش متدینان و اهل شریعت نسبت به طب نوین و دستاوردهای آن داشته است. https://tarikh.nashriyat.ir/sites/tarikh.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/5000144-1782029654.pdf
