A research on this field, not only seems necessary to understand the historins' social and historical methods, factors, components and views, but also makes considerable changes in inferences drawn about the reasons of emergence, collapse, prosperity of societies in the past. Therefore, it can be claimed that it is necessary to review, or even rewrite, many historical works written so far without a consideration of social history. It seems a strenuous task to do a research on the social history of the present Islamic era, and that of the Shi'is, in particular, due to its dispersal in numerous sources and the lack of early sources dedicated to this issue. This article is the result of a research Conducted on some of the factors and elements of the Shi'is' social history in the early half of the 9th century (800-850 AH). This period is coincident with the Timurid reign all over Iran and some other neighboring rigions, and some aspects of the social history of that period has been investigated تاريخ اجتماعى و تحولات مربوط به آن چندى است مورد توجه قرار گرفته است. پژوهش در اين باب نه‏تنها براى شناخت روش‏ها، عوامل، مؤفه‏ها و آراى تاريخى ـ اجتماعى مورخان ضرورى مى‏نمايد، بلكه سبب ايجاد دگرگونى‏هاى قابل توجهى در نتيجه‏گيرى‏هاى صورت گرفته درباره علل ظهور، سقوط، اعتلا و... جوامع گذشته خواهد شد. از اين رو مى‏توان ادعا كرد تجديدنظر و حتى بازنويسى بسيارى از موضوعات تاريخى كه تاكنون بدون توجه به تاريخ اجتماعى نگارش يافته، ضرورى است. تحقيق درباره تاريخ اجتماعى عصر اسلامى و به‏خصوص تاريخ اجتماعى شيعيان، به سبب پراكندگى آن در منابع متعدد و نبود منابع كهنِ مختص به اين موضوع، امر دشوارى به نظر مى‏رسد. نوشتارى كه در پى مى‏آيد تحقيقى است در مورد برخى عوامل و مؤفه‏هاى تاريخ اجتماعى شيعيان در نيمه نخست قرن نهم (800 ـ 850ق). اين دوره، مصادف است با حكومت تيموريان بر سرتاسر ايران و برخى مناطق مسلمان‏نشين اطراف آن، كه تحقيق حاضر درصدد پاسخ‏گويى به برخى ابعاد تاريخ اجتماعى آن عصر مى‏باشد.
