According to Sura Tawba (The Repentance), verse 29, people of the Book could remain loyal to their religion, if they would like, and pay per capita tax, called tribute, in return for having permission to live in the Islamic society. The Holy Prophet strengthened his relations with Christians in compliance with the aforementioned verse. The number of Dhemmi Christians increased after the conquest of Christian settlements during the reign of the first Caliphs. The increase of population caused new debates on how the religious and sociopolitical relationships between Muslims and Dhemmi Christians can be established. Therefore, it was necessary to pass and implement new rules to determine the religious and sociopolitical position of Dhemmi people in the Islamic society. The present paper tries to investigate the religious and sociopolitical rights of the Dhemmi people during the reign of the first Caliphs. بعد از ظهور اسلام چگونگی مناسبات مسلمانان با اهل کتاب بر اساس نصّ صریح قرآن مشخص شد. اهل کتاب طبق آیه‌ی 29 سوره‌ی توبه، می توانستند در صورت تمایل، به دین خود وفادار مانده و در برابر زندگی در جامعه اسلامی مالیات سرانه ای به نام جزیه بپردازند. پیامبر طبق این آیه، روابط خود را با مسیحیان مشخص کرد. بعد از فتح مناطق مسیحی نشین در عصر خلفای نخستین، بر تعداد مسیحیان ذمّی در جامعه اسلامی افزوده شد. افزایش تعداد ذمّیان در قلمرو اسلامی باعث شد تا مباحث جدیدی در مورد چگونگی مناسبات اجتماعی ـ سیاسی و دینی مسیحیان ذمّی با مسلمانان مطرح شود، از این رو، تدوین و اجرای احکام جدیدی درباره تعیین پایگاه اجتماعی ـ سیاسی و دینی ذمّیان در جامعه اسلامی ضروری گردید. در این مقاله سعی شده است حقوق اجتماعی ـ سیاسی و دینی ذمّیان در عصر خلفای نخستین بررسی شود. https://tarikh.nashriyat.ir/sites/tarikh.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/7_2.pdf
