The roots of Shi'ism in Beihaq traces back to the first century AH. The present paper investigates the time of and the factors o bihind the spread of Twelver Shiite beliefs in Beihaq from early Islam until the Mongols' invasion in 617 AH. Among these factors are the presence of Qanbar’s clan and some of the holy Prophet's Companions in Beihaq, the arrival of Imam Reza (peace be upon him) in Neyshaboor and Tus which are near Beihaq, Beihaqi people's support for Yahya ibn Zeid's uprising, the presence of Shia scholars and books in this city, the migration of the descendents of the Prophet to this land, its people's love and affection for the holy Prophet's family, and the widespread of Shia poems. بیهق نام قدیمی سبزوار و یکی از شهرهای پیشگام در تشیّع، همانند قم و کاشان است. ریشه های تشیّع بیهق به اواسط قرن اول هجری برمی گردد. در این پژوهش به بررسی زمان و عوامل ورود و گسترش تشیّع امامی بیهق از صدر اسلام تا حمله‌ی مغول (617م) پرداخته شده است. حضور خاندان قنبر و برخی از صحابه رسول الله(ع) در بیهق، حضور امام رضا(ع) در نیشابور و طوس در نزدیکی بیهق، حمایت مردم از قیام یحیی بن زید، وجود علما و کتاب های شیعی در این دیار، مهاجرت سادات به این منطقه و محبت مردم به خاندان رسول(ص) و نیز وجود اشعار شیعی، از جمله عوامل ورود و گسترش تشیّع امامی در بیهق است. https://tarikh.nashriyat.ir/sites/tarikh.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/3_1.pdf
