abstract = {In the works authored by Sunni outstanding scholars on the character of Imam Ali in particular, or that of the Companions of the Holy Prophet in general, certain chapters are devoted to his outward features. It is noteworthy that some Shiite scholars have also taken the qualities stated in these sources as granted, quoting them in their own books. Revisiting this issue and criticizing as well as analyzing the qualities mentioned in Sunni sources, the co- authors of this article have concluded that some of these features reflect Imam Ali´s real appearance corresponding to the reports of other Sunni sources and those of Shiite ones. According to these sources, the two qualities of “ Anza” and “Batin” attributed to Imam Ali by the holy Prophet, can be accepted through the explanation given by the Holy Prophet himself. However, some other qualities of Imam Ali (p.b.u.h) although apparently mentioned in praise of him, the real aim behind them has been tarnishing his image.},

abstract_fa ={در آثاری که بزرگان اهل سنت، حول شخصیت امیرمؤمنان علی علیه السلام به طور خاص، یا شخصیت صحابه‌ی پیامبر اکرم صلی الله علیه و آله وسلم به طور عام  به رشته‌ی تحریر درآورده اند، بخش هایی نیز به ویژگی های ظاهری آن حضرت اختصاص یافته است. نکته‌ی قابل تأمل آن است که برخی از علمای امامیه نیز صفات بیان شده در این منابع را تلقی به قبول کرده و آنها را در کتب خود نقل نموده اند. نگارندگان در این نوشتار، ضمن بازخوانی موضوع، و تحلیل و نقد ویژگی های بیان شده، به این نکته دست یافته اند که برخی از این صفات، نمایانگر چهره‌ی واقعی آن حضرت اند و با گزارش های منابع دیگر اهل سنت و نیز منابع شیعی مطابقت دارند. بر اساس این منابع، دو صفت «انزع» و «بطین» نیز توسط رسول خدا صلی الله علیه و آله وسلم به علی علیه السلام نسبت داده شده اند که با تبیین خاصی که خود آن حضرت ارائه کرده اند، می توانند پذیرفته شوند؛ اما بخش دیگری از صفات امیرمؤمنان علی علیه السلام، که در منابع اهل سنت آمده گرچه ظاهراً در مقام مدح ایشان بیان شده، لکن هدف نقل کنندگان، مذمت حضرت بوده است.},
