Endowment - as one of the techniques in this field – is briefly mentioned in all the Divine religions; but Islam has paid a special attention to its social and economic function. The practice of Ahl al-Bayt, which is an objective realization of Islam’s teachings, shows this important point as well. Before the era of Imam Muhammad Baqir, the concept of charity was common instead of endowment, and the concept of endowment is used in Shia jurisprudence and narrative sources after the era of Imam Muhammad Baqir. Reviewing the different types of Prophet Mohammad and Imam Ali’s endowments in the Hijaz region, this article analyzed their economic effects; using a descriptive-analytical method and relying on library sources. This study shows that Prophet Mohammad and Imam Ali's endowments, which includes various types of endowments, have had many economic effects, including financial support for the needy, poverty reduction, relative realization of economic justice, creating employment, encouraging Muslims to do charity and have routine charity. در آموزه های دینی به توسعه‌ی اقتصادی و عدالت اجتماعی توجه ویژه ای صورت گرفته و در اسلام برای رسیدن به آن هدف مهم، دستوراتی تشریع شده است. وقف، به عنوان یکی از راهکارها در این زمینه، در تمام ادیان الهی به اجمال مطرح بوده؛ اما اسلام به کارکرد اجتماعی و اقتصادی آن عنایت ویژه ای داشته است. سیره‌ی اهل بیت(ع) نیز که به گونه ای تحقق عینی تعالیم اسلام است، این مهم را نشان می دهد. تا قبل از دوران امام محمدباقر(ع) مفهوم صدقات به جای مفهوم وقف رایج بوده و پس از دوران آن حضرت است که مفهوم وقف در منابع فقهی و روایی شیعه به کار رفته است. این پژوهش با بازخوانی گونه های موقوفات پیامبر اکرم(ص) و امیرمؤمنان علی(ع) در منطقه‌ی حجاز و با روش توصیفی ـ تحلیلی و با تکیه بر منابع کتابخانه ای به تجزیه و تحلیل آثار اقتصادی آنها پرداخته است. این بازخوانی نشان می دهد که موقوفات پیامبر(ص) و امام علی(ع) که شامل گونه های مختلفی بوده، آثار اقتصادی فراوان به همراه داشته است که اموری چون حمایت مالی از نیازمندان، فقرزدایی، تحقق نسبی عدالت اقتصادی، ایجاد اشتغال، ترغیب مسلمانان به امور خیر و صدقات جاریه، از جمله‌ی آنهاست. https://tarikh.nashriyat.ir/sites/tarikh.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/2_22.pdf
