abstract = {This article aims to investigate and analyze Ibn Kathir Damishqi’s (774 LAH) method and style of historiography about the event of Ashura based on his book "Al-Bidaya wa A-Nahaya". Considering that this historian has a special method and approach in reporting the event of Ashura and its surrounding events and issues, the review and analysis of his report presents remarkable points for researchers. Providing a brief description of Ibn Kathir's life and his scientific personality, this research criticizes and analyzes his report on the history of Ashura and discusses its characteristics. The result of this research leads us to an important point: although Ibn Kathir is more influenced by Tabari's report of the Ashura event, but due to his Ottoman and Umayyad orientation, he has a biased and unfair approach in reporting the Ashura uprising. Therefore, he cannot be considered as a moderate, trustworthy and reliable historian.},

abstract_fa ={پژوهش حاضر به بررسی و تحلیل شیوه و سبک تاریخ نگاری ابن کثیر دمشقی (م 774 ق) درباره‌ی واقعه‌ی عاشورا براساس کتاب «البدایة و النهایة» وی می پردازد. با توجه آنکه این مورخ شیوه و رویکرد خاصی در گزارش واقعه‌ی عاشورا و حوادث و مسائل پیرامونیِ آن دارد، بررسی و تحلیل گزارش وی نکات قابل توجه و تأملی را فراروی محققان قرار می دهد. این پژوهش پس از ارائه‌ی شرح کوتاهی از زندگی و شخصیت علمی ابن کثیر، به نقد و واکاوی گزارش وی از تاریخ عاشورا و نیز به ویژگی های آن می پردازد. دستاورد این پ‍ژوهش، ما را به این نکته‌ی مهم رهنمون می سازد که ابن کثیر با آنکه در گزارش واقعه‌ی عاشورا بیشتر متأثر از گزارش طبری است، به سبب گرایش عثمانی و اموی خود، رویکرد متعصبانه و غیرمنصفانه ای در ارائه‌ی گزارش قیام عاشورا دارد؛ ازاین رو، نمی توان او را از مورخان و مقتل نگاران معتدل و مورد وثوق و اعتماد به شمار آورد.},
