There are different reports concerning the history of what legalized the titual prayers (salat) in Islamic resources. Some traditions consider ritual prayers as coinciding with the ascension of the Propret Muhammad, and in others, mention is made about the Prophet's prayers before ascension and even before the Prophetic mission. The Prophet's praying and even command to night prayer according to some verses revealed at the beginning of the Prophet's prophetic mission also are mentiond. Glancing over this subject from the historical and Qur'anic viewpoint, the present research seeks to show that, although the Prophet performed the prayers (obligatiory or recommended) before ascension, but performing daily prayers has been coincided with the Peophet's ascension.
